Doing Small Things With Great Love

This past summer I helped you mail a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency.  We told them of your wish for a pretty Earth with good air to breathe, good food to eat, and lots of trees that will still be here for your kids to climb someday.

We told them that the proposed Power Plant Mercury and Air Toxins Standards rule being finalized was very important for not only your generation but others that will follow.

Your voice was heard.  Today the rules were finalized.  Two victories and answered prayers for you in one week.  Because of you and many other great efforts in the environmental community, reduced emissions from the new air toxics rule will save as many as 17,000 lives in America per year by the time you are in the sixth grade.  What’s more?  It will prevent 120,000 cases of childhood asthma.  It’s amazing what you have helped to do.  Breathe easier knowing someone else will breathe easier someday because you helped.  Feel good knowing that it took twenty years for our country to get here and you had a part in it.

This day represents a leading triumph for the health of our youth and progression for better standards of living.  I am proud of you, Son.  Keep on pushing.

You really can Make a Difference.

p.s. Tonight we will work on a note of thanks to EPA Administrator Jackson for their diligent work and perseverance. J
