Earth Day 2011

Earth Day is only two days away.  The theme this year, Billion Acts of Green®.   An amazing people-powered campaign was launched by the Earth Day Network to generate a billion acts of environmental service globally.  This is an all call for people of every nationality to think locally and act globally.  The campaign calls for each of us to make a commitment to an act that promotes sustainability.  Every commitment will make a difference be it as vast as organizing a beach pick up in your community or as small as a light bulb make over in your pad.  All acts count.
My act?  I pledge to be an advocate and spread the word and ideas to  help generate as many individual green efforts as possible.  I also have my Earth Day weekend all lined up - that's right, by simply supporting a local Earth Day event we can make a big difference!  On Friday I will be supporting a local  Earth Day celebration on the 600 Block in down town Saint Petersburg.  Saturday, I'll start by changing the light bulbs in my pad, maybe I'll plant a few random wild flowers and then enjoy an afternoon of live music and good eats at the 2nd Annual Birdstock event at  Beach Theater - all proceeds will benefit Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary.  Sunday, after enjoying Easter morning with my family we will partake in a DTSP clean up.
Join me in celebrating Earth Day 2011 and make a pledge to an environmental in the near future.  You will be taking part in the world's largest ever environmental service movement.  Remember that every small act counts so be sure to register with the campaign so that the over flowing green efforts are measured accurately.  To register your acts simply visit the campaign headquarters at http://www.billionactsofgreen.org/, or find Billion Acts of Green® on Facebook or Twitter. The online registration tools are uber easy to use and you will be finished in a flash.  Together we can make a big difference!
